FTSE 100 companies by sector and market value (October 2026)

All 100 FTSE 100 companies by industry, market value and index weight, with interactive charts and a sortable list. Prices from 23 October 2026.

  • The FTSE 100's companies are worth about £2.78 trillion; the ten largest make up 49% of the index.
  • Financials are the biggest industry: 25 companies and 26% of the index.
  • Technology is just 0.5% of the index: Sage and Computacenter are its only technology companies.
  • HSBC, Shell and AstraZeneca are the three most valuable members, each worth over £200bn.

The FTSE 100 is the index of the 100 largest companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. Together they are worth about £2.78 trillion. This page shows every one of them by industry and size, using London Stock Exchange prices on 23 October 2026 and the line-up after the index review on 1 October 2026.

A top-heavy index

The ten largest companies make up 49% of the index. HSBC (£234bn) and Shell (£222bn) are each worth more than the 40 smallest members combined (£209bn), with AstraZeneca (£201bn) close behind. The smallest, IG Group, Balfour Beatty and Burberry, are each worth around £3–4bn.

Banks and insurers lead; technology barely registers

Financials are the biggest industry, with 25 companies and 26% of the index: HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds, NatWest and Standard Chartered, insurers like Aviva and Legal & General, and investment companies like 3i and the London Stock Exchange Group itself. Consumer staples (Unilever, British American Tobacco, Diageo, Tesco) come next, followed by industrials, energy and health care.

Technology is just 0.5% of the index, with only Sage and Computacenter. That is the biggest difference between the FTSE 100 and America's S&P 500, where technology companies are the largest group.

Market value and index weight aren't the same

A company's weight in the index counts only the shares that are freely traded in London, so a company with a large controlling shareholder counts for less than its market value suggests. Fresnillo, for example, is worth about £41bn but makes up less than 0.2% of the index, because most of its shares are held by its parent company. The table shows both figures.

Make this chart with your own numbers

A treemap works whenever you want to show how a total splits into groups and items: a portfolio by sector and holding, revenue by region and product, or costs by department and team. Put the data in columns (group, item, value), paste it into the treemap maker, and download it for an investor update or board deck. The link under each chart above opens it with this page's data already loaded.

Sources and method

Constituents after FTSE Russell's 1 October 2026 review, with each company's sector as listed on Wikipedia (based on the FTSE/ICB classification). The 47 sector names are grouped into 11 industries; Unilever and Reckitt are counted as consumer staples, and Burberry and Barratt Redrow as consumer discretionary. Market value and index weight are from the London Stock Exchange's constituents table on 23 October 2026 (prices delayed by at least 15 minutes). Market value counts all shares in issue; index weight counts only freely traded shares.
