Charts that move stop thumbs. Here's how to make one that looks good on a phone and posts in a couple of taps.
1. Pick a chart that tells a story in motion
- Bar chart race: rankings changing over time. The most watched format.
- Line chart: a trend drawing itself across the screen.
- Number counter: one big number counting up to a milestone.
- Donut or waffle: a share that fills in.
2. Choose the right size
In Share & export, pick Stories & Reels (9:16) for Reels, Stories, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and WhatsApp Status, or Feed post (4:5) for the Instagram feed. Text scales up automatically for tall formats, so it stays readable on a phone.
3. Make it readable in two seconds
- Write the point as the title: "Ember went from last to first".
- Use Highlight & notes to make one bar or line stand out and add a short note.
- Keep it to about 8 to 12 items. Fewer is punchier.
- Set the speed under Animation. Aim for a clip of 3 to 8 seconds.
4. Record and post
Press Create video. It plays the animation and records a 1080p MP4. On a phone, press Share video and choose Instagram, TikTok or WhatsApp from your share sheet. On a computer, save it and upload as usual.
For Slack, email or X, choose Create GIF instead: a looping GIF that plays anywhere images do.
Make it yours
Set up a brand kit under Style with your colours, font and logo, and every chart you make matches your feed.
